Quick question on the 'Old Fashioned'

http://ift.tt/eA8V8J It seems like no matter what I do, there's a lot of sugar floating around or not dissolved in the drink. I'm using the recommended amount, but I'm measuring out normal sugar instead of using a cube. Will switching to cubes solve the problem or is it normal to not have it completely dissolve?
