Drinking a Newark tonight, a question for you all.

2 oz Applejack1 oz Sweet Vermouth.25 oz Maraschino.25 FernetNow I love Fernet and drink it by itself but I have yet to find a fernet cocktail that doesn't just taste like fernet and some mild other flavors. The Newark, for me, falls in this category.Have you made the Newark, if so what do you think?What cocktails use fernet properly?
