Gin & Tonic - Cilantro
So I’m one of the folks on the binary side of the cilantro issue that likes the stuff. I was making a cilantro pesto to have with grilled shrimp tonight, and the idea of using cilantro in a gin and tonic came to mind.I normally make a G&T with a few leaves of muddled basil and a splash of lime juice. I replaced the basil with cilantro, much like I was doing with the pesto. (Other changes with the pesto as well…)I didn’t know what to expect, and I have to say I’m plesantly surprised! This is a more herbaceous drink. The cilantro definitly comes through. It’s not a gin and tonic with a hint of cilantro. It’s more of a different drink altogether.I won’t do this every time, but when the dinner menu is aligned, I’ll certainly reprise the combination.
