I have a couple of questions regarding Pernod...

Forgetting to ask the bartender for more information I'm left on my own, and hopefully with your help, to figure it out. I just went to the local liquor store and they had two different kinds, both the same size but one "anise" kind for ~$35 and the other "absinthe" kind for ~$75. So my questions are A) what is the difference between the two? & B) Substitutes? I don't particularly want to pay that much for "a splash" (no nips/airplane sizes were available). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
