Jello Cocktails

http://ift.tt/eA8V8J For a 4th of July party I made Jello cocktail shots. I portioned them into 2 oz. lidded condiment cups for transport. Recipes below:Whiskey Sour:1 cup boiling water1 Lemon Jello packet8 oz. Jim Beam (I know it's bourbon, but we like it)6 oz. Soda Water1 Lemon, juicedMix the boiling water with the Jello Packet, stir until dissolved. Add the whiskey, lemon juice and soda water. Portion and chill.Margarita:1 cup boiling water1 Lime Jello packet6 oz. 100% Agave Silver Tequila2 oz. Orange Liqueur1 Lime, juicedMix the boiling water with the Jello Packet, stir until dissolved. Add the tequila, orange liqueur, and lime juice. Portion and chill.Gin and Tonic: (I made more of these than the others as the tonic syrup makes larger batches)2 cups of home made tonic syrup (recipe below):1 Box Knox Gelatin (4 packets)16 oz. Gin12 oz. Soda water2 Limes, JuicedSprinkle the gelatin into the Gin at room temp. Stir until dissolved. Bring the tonic syrup to a boil in a pot, remove from the heat, and add the Gin, Lime juice and soda water. Portion and chill.Tonic syrup: (halved recipe from Liquid Intelligence by Dave Arnold ~makes 2 cups)375 ml. Water375 g. Sugar10 cinchona barkGrind the cinchona bark. Boil the water and make a tea by adding the cinchona bark. Filter this and water to bring back to 375 ml. (I usually start with a little extra water) Keep the water boiling and dissolve the sugar. Mix with lime and soda water to make tonic water for an awesome G&T.

  • 1 Lemon Jello packet
  • 8 oz. Jim Beam (I know it's bourbon, but we like it)
  • 6 oz. Soda Water
  • 1 Lemon, juiced

Mix the boiling water with the Jello Packet, stir until dissolved. Add the whiskey, lemon juice and soda water. Portion and chill.

Margarita:

  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 Lime Jello packet
  • 6 oz. 100% Agave Silver Tequila
  • 2 oz. Orange Liqueur
  • 1 Lime, juiced

Mix the boiling water with the Jello Packet, stir until dissolved. Add the tequila, orange liqueur, and lime juice. Portion and chill.

Gin and Tonic: (I made more of these than the others as the tonic syrup makes larger batches)

  • 2 cups of home made tonic syrup (recipe below):
  • 1 Box Knox Gelatin (4 packets)
  • 16 oz. Gin
  • 12 oz. Soda water
  • 2 Limes, Juiced

Sprinkle the gelatin into the Gin at room temp. Stir until dissolved. Bring the tonic syrup to a boil in a pot, remove from the heat, and add the Gin, Lime juice and soda water. Portion and chill.

Tonic syrup: (halved recipe from Liquid Intelligence by Dave Arnold ~makes 2 cups)

  • 375 ml. Water
  • 375 g. Sugar
  • 10 cinchona bark

Grind the cinchona bark. Boil the water and make a tea by adding the cinchona bark. Filter this and water to bring back to 375 ml. (I usually start with a little extra water) Keep the water boiling and dissolve the sugar. Mix with lime and soda water to make tonic water for an awesome G&T.
