For a 4th of July party I made Jello cocktail shots. I portioned them into 2 oz. lidded condiment cups for transport. Recipes below:
Whiskey Sour:
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1 Lemon Jello packet
- 8 oz. Jim Beam (I know it's bourbon, but we like it)
- 6 oz. Soda Water
- 1 Lemon, juiced
Mix the boiling water with the Jello Packet, stir until dissolved. Add the whiskey, lemon juice and soda water. Portion and chill.
Margarita:
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1 Lime Jello packet
- 6 oz. 100% Agave Silver Tequila
- 2 oz. Orange Liqueur
- 1 Lime, juiced
Mix the boiling water with the Jello Packet, stir until dissolved. Add the tequila, orange liqueur, and lime juice. Portion and chill.
Gin and Tonic: (I made more of these than the others as the tonic syrup makes larger batches)
- 2 cups of home made tonic syrup (recipe below):
- 1 Box Knox Gelatin (4 packets)
- 16 oz. Gin
- 12 oz. Soda water
- 2 Limes, Juiced
Sprinkle the gelatin into the Gin at room temp. Stir until dissolved. Bring the tonic syrup to a boil in a pot, remove from the heat, and add the Gin, Lime juice and soda water. Portion and chill.
Tonic syrup: (halved recipe from Liquid Intelligence by Dave Arnold ~makes 2 cups)
- 375 ml. Water
- 375 g. Sugar
- 10 cinchona bark
Grind the cinchona bark. Boil the water and make a tea by adding the cinchona bark. Filter this and water to bring back to 375 ml. (I usually start with a little extra water) Keep the water boiling and dissolve the sugar. Mix with lime and soda water to make tonic water for an awesome G&T.
