Looking for a good lavender syrup recipe

We've been playing around with a lot of different syrups and shrubs at my bar and my coworkers have come up with some great ones so far, but I'd like a lavender on. Obviously lavender, sugar and water, but I was thinking adding lemon zest? Is it better to use dried or fresh? We have a farm so access to any kind of herb is at my fingertips.
